No Disrespect: My Little Sister and I Had Something to Say

The Life of a Modern Renaissance Man: A Video Journal, entry 22

There are people on the internet who act like typing on a phone grants them diplomatic immunity. They will say the wildest things to strangers and then go make a sandwich as though they didn't just choose chaos.

So my little sister, MRLY JADE, and I made No Disrespect. It's a high-energy record about online disrespect, boundaries, and what happens when people get a little too comfortable being cruel from a distance.

I loved getting to create a song with my sister. It's one thing to make music with friends. It's another to collaborate with someone who knows your family history and can probably embarrass you with stories from childhood if the recording session gets tense.

For this project, I worked on the beat, writing, recording, mixing, and mastering, and brought those same instincts into the music video production. The result reflects how I like to build creative worlds: strong personalities, a clear point of view, and a willingness to have fun with the intensity.

At its core, the song asks people to think about what they put into the world. I care about freedom of expression. I also care about basic respect. Both can live in the same conversation, even if the internet occasionally behaves as though manners were outlawed.
